Operations
The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network (EFPN) operates on the basis of referral. Various churches and organizations refer clients to our Network Coordinator. The Coordinator interviews all referrals by phone, keeps records, confers with other agencies as necessary and arranges with the pantries for the food pickup by the clients. The operating budget of EFPN covers the salary of the Coordinator as well as her substitute. These are the only paid positions of EFPN. Besides salaries, there is money in the operating budget to cover postage and other office expenses. The budget also includes money for grants to affiliated agencies such as the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and Voluntary Action Center for the Sharing Tree program. Approximately $40,000 is needed for the annual operating budget of EFPN.
